Tangy Turkey Burgers

I used to live off turkey burgers when I was a bit more health-conscious. Ah, the good old days! Haha! I do still try to eat healthy, but I’m just not as disciplined as I once was. I still love this recipe, though. It isn’t really a substitute when you’re craving beef. It’s more special than that. This is a burger you’ll crave for it’s own unique flavor. I got the original recipe from a collection of recipe cards I have called Healthy Meals in Minutes. They suggest forming 6 patties, but if you prefer a thicker burger make 4 patties instead.

Ingredients:
1 1/2 pounds ground turkey
3 tablespoons minced green onion
1 teaspoon reduced-sodium soy sauce
1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger (or 1/2 teaspoon ground)
2 teaspoons Dijon-style mustard
1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Directions:
Preheat the broiler and line a broiler pan with foil. Optionally, preheat the grill to medium-high instead.

In a large bowl, combine the turkey, green onion, soy sauce, ginger, mustard, and pepper. Mix well. Shape mixture into 6 patties.

Place patties on rack in prepared pan or on the grill. Broil until patties are cooked through, about 5 minutes per side.

If desired, serve with whole grain buns, lettuce, tomato, and cheese.

Serves 6.
