S'mores Tarts

I first saw s’mores tarts in the bakery case at a local café and thought they were a brilliant idea! I didn’t get one right away, but I kept thinking of them. Next time I returned to the café they were gone. I thought they must be easy enough to make, then life got in the way and I forgot. … Continue Reading →

Watermelon Mojito

When I was a bartender I was never once asked to make a mojito. If I had been, I would have had no idea what the customer was asking for. Those were sad times. Now it’s the rare bar that doesn’t have some type of mojito on their specialty drink menu. Today there are so many variations to the original minty-lime drink. It can be adapted to any season. Nomlettes - Mini Omelettes To Go

Have I mentioned how much I love my CSA? Every week I get a big crate overflowing with fresh produce from a local farm. The CSA I’m a member of also includes eggs…lots of eggs. Summer Vegetable Stew

I’ve had this recipe, or some variation of it, in my collection for I don’t know how long. I’m not even sure where the original came from. What I do know is that it’s one of my husband’s favorite ways to eat vegetables. Since he thinks vegetables are an “optional” part of any meal, I do what I can to get him excited about them. While I was making this yesterday, my husband said the aroma took him back to his Italian grandmother’s kitchen. Simple foods from the earth, probably grown in their very own garden. … Continue Reading →

Sweet Potato Scones

My dad’s a man who loves his desserts! He was describing some sweet potato biscuits he purchased at a local bakery, with the hopes that I could come up with something similar. Ever one to rise to a challenge, I set to work creating this recipe. Okay, okay, I confess. I didn’t start immediately. I had a general idea of the direction I was going to go, then…I forgot all about it. Until now. Sorry, dad! Better late than never? … Continue Reading →
