One year Starbucks put salted caramel hot chocolate on their menu. What an incredible drink! The way the smoked sea salt played off the sweetness in the chocolate and caramel was music to my taste buds. I missed it dearly when it was gone and eagerly awaited its return the following year. Pan-frying bacon is a good way to end up with grease splatters all over your stove. Those splatters are even less enjoyable when they splash your forearm. Grilling bacon imparts and excellent flavor, and it seasons your grill nicely too. It requires lots of attention, however, to avoid flare-ups resulting in black, crumbly strips. Microwaved bacon dries out too easily, leaving something that more closely resembles artificial bacon bins. I make my bacon in the oven. I’m fortunate enough to work at a company with a full-service cafeteria. I’m not a big sandwich person. So on the mornings when I’m feeling too lazy to pack something for lunch, I can always purchase something from the cafe. The best days are when mac and cheese is on the menu.
